刘丛强,男,生于1955年9月,研究员,中国科学院院士,国家自然科学基金委员会副主任。1982年2月毕业于南京大学地球科学系,获理学学士学位。1984年12月于中国科学院地球化学研究所获理学硕士学位,后留所工作。
现任国家自然科学基金委员会副主任、党组成员,环境地球化学国家重点实验室学术委员会主任。

1994年入选中国科学院首批“百人计划”;1996年获国家杰出青年科学家基金;1998年任国家攀登项目首席科学家;2006年任973计划项目“西南喀斯特山地石漠化与适应性生态系统调控”首席科学家。早期主要从事中国东部新生代火山岩及其地幔岩包体的微量元素和同位素地球化学研究,其成果获2002年贵州省科学技术进步一等奖(负责); 1996至今主要从事地表地球化学过程及其环境效应方面的研究,研究重点为喀斯特环境地球化学过程和环境变化。有关喀斯特(乌江)流域物质的水文地球化学的研究成果于2004获贵州省科技进步一等奖(负责)。至今共发表中文期刊收录论文200余篇,英文SCI收录论文110余篇;合著专著5部;培养博士生(毕业)30余名。
1990年8月获中国岩石矿物地球化学学会候德封奖(中国西部(东部)新生代火山岩的同位素以及微量元素地球化学 013号)
1993年5月破格晋升为中国科学院地球化学研究所研究员,并被国务院学位委员会批准为博士生导师

学术研究
主要从事新生代火山岩及地幔包体地球化学、地质流体作用地球化学和地表过程地球化学等领域的研究工作。利用微量元素和同位素地球化学的过程和物质来源示踪理论,对中国新生代大陆地幔岩浆作用及地球化学特征、地质流体作用、地表过程及其环境效应等方面开展了研究工作。作为首席科学家组织实施了我国第一个地质流体作用地球化学研究项目;在喀斯特环境地表地球化学过程及其环境效应方面获得有关物质循环与环境效应的系统认识,国内外学术界给予了很高的评价。

研究方向
主要从事地表(无机、有机和生物)地球化学过程、物质循环及其生态环境效应的研究:环境和生态系统的变化与(自然或人类活动干预下)地表各圈层内及相互之间物质的生物地球化学循环密切相关。针对这一核心科学问题,在结合其它学科理论和研究方法的基础上,充分利用元素和多种同位素地球化学示踪和化学计量学理论和方法,主要对我国西南喀斯特生态系统中岩石-土壤-植物-水-大气界面生物地球化学过程和流域物质循环开展研究。
